All donations will go directly to the school. I’ve got support from the Executive Director from ALO and no paid staff will be included. Although we are still working out the details of the budget the initial estimate is based on the following numbers:
Building costs costs: BDT 100.000
This includes all building materials, desks, chairs and other necessary furniture. Of course the standard will be set a little bit higher than in the government school. Natural resources will be used as much as possible (wood, bamboo) and the people from the village will build the school themselves.
Salary teachers: BDT 351.000
The two teachers will receive 4500 BDT (€45) each month. A festival bonus (’13th month’) will be given as well. Three years of salary are included to make sure the school is not shut down after one year.
Study material: BDT 245.000
Seventy sets of books, each around 3500 BDT.
Other costs: BDT 74.000
This includes training for the teachers, uniforms and a contribution towards a small library for the school. The teachers will need training since they will be hired from nearby villages. The remoteness of the area makes it hard to find highly qualified trainers which means we need to invest in their training as well.
Total estimate: BDT 770.000 or around 8000 euro.
